DU Hai

Du Hai graduated from Tianjin University of Commerce in 2004, receiving a Bachelor of Management degree in Tourism. Following graduation, He became a documentary photographer with a primary interest in different social landscapes in China. As a photojournalist and photo editor, He had worked for Metro Express and Bohai Morning Post in Tianjin municipality for 6 years. In 2006, Du Hai became a freelance photographer for Reuters. He covered all major news stories both in Tianjin and neighbouring regions. Hundreds of his pictures have been published by several renowned newspapers, including the New York Times and Wall Street Journal, and magazines, including Time and Fortune. His byline, Vincent Du, frequently made it to photos-of-the-day collections on Reuters' website. His photo essays cover topics that include Chinese homosexual society, the cancer village, Chinese soldiers, Chinese society on aging, drug rehabilitation centre in China, and female soccer school in China. In 2009, he began to use multimedia for special subjects such as Catholicism in a Chinese village, childhood autism, and a Chinese charitable artist. Currently, he is studying for a master's degree in journalism at the University of Hong Kong's Journalism and Media Studies Centre.
